As a running club we challenge ourselves every time we go for a run, be it just opening the front door and taking the first step out, or when we push ourselves to beat our PB over a certain distance. SRC charity – challenge evolved from one of our mad cap ideas….
What if we set a personal challenge and raised some money for a local charity?
It got the thumbs up, so at our annual end of year Presentation/ Christmas knees up, 10 local charities were put in a hat and Salisbury Hospice was taken out….
From the out set, the support we got from the charity team was amazing, so we were set!! .
Personal plans where mapped out and some put in place for the year….. But some times life throws up a curve ball.
We at SRC are resilient and Covid -19 has not stopped us raising money for this Great Charity. We are always thinking of new ways to keep fit, entertain & support each other.
So from climbing the height of Ben Nevis by way of your stairs, to cycling on a turbo trainer for an hour and a half, getting nowhere fast…. To a team virtual marathon. All have helped us to raise money for the hospice.
We are proud to be able to help in a small way, raising money for the Salisbury Hospice. In these difficult times, any support we can give, can only be positive, Salisbury Hospice have a very informative website www.salisburyhospicecharity.org.uk please have a look and if possible, a small donation would be appreciated.

SRC 2.6 Challenge
On April 26th We began our 2.6 challenge for the hospice, it was great fun and we have continued to come up with ideas since then….
The club have many interesting ways of recording their efforts from gadgets to teddies, and clothes pegs!
If you would like to donate to the Salisbury hospice charity please follow the link.
Kev started things off with an hour and half on the Turbo Trainer, followed by Fran and Moss doing a Half Marathon each. Moss having never gone above 8 miles before. Fenella (Guest) joined in the fun and finished her training having clocked the full 26.2 miles.
For multi sport… Nick did a @home duathlon and Lawrence just coming out of injury, put in a run/bike session
Jane C put in an epic 12 miles of run-walking whilst Jane B continues to bolster the funds with a pound for every mile she does (Constantly improving on her own times and endurance abilities.
Then there were some great runs from Sally, Darrell, Cheryl, Roxy and Karen.
The Roue family took the club colours out for an airing, and despite some lockdown blues we all had a great time, whist raising some money for a great cause.
We will continue to come up with ways of getting through lockdown and challenging ourselves to help us keep fit and raise funds for our charity..
Fantastic everybody, thank you so much for all your amazing efforts today. SRC is a wonderful place with wonderful caring people. Thank you for all your donations to Salisbury Hospice another truly wonderful place with amazing caring people.
