On Sunday we hosted our first ever “Virtual” Marathon Relay
Throughout May teams of four discussed tactics on how to train and run their virtual routes of 10.5 k each. The challenge being to be the team with the most consistent splits.
All in aid of our chosen club charity for 2020 The Salisbury Hospice
Under normal circumstances pacing a team would be much easier, but our runners were based all over South Wiltshire, some using various parts of Salisbury Plain, others using local village routes.
Some runners chose to run 2x loops of 5.25 k and others had the option of run/walking, and due to social distancing rules, none of us could train together.
As this was based on consistency rather than speed, everyone was fully engaged on the goal – Bragging rights and the chance to be awesome for the day…..
Come race day and after 10 weeks of the club being in lockdown, it was great to see the selfies come flooding in, smiling faces flying the team colours once again.

It was a blisteringly hot day, some chose to run early, others ran later in the day, some were running straight off of a night shift.
We even had a guest runner standing in for a team member, thank you Rosie… We hope you join us for some club runs soon
This is who we are as a club. We love running and we love having fun. We love welcoming people at all levels to have a go, and we love finding ways to make winning accessible to all.
Congratulations to Team Lisa – You have the Bragging rights and the chance to be awesome for the day – Managing to stay within 00:01:24 of each other – Well done
Want to make some friends? Want to start, or return to running? We might just be the club for you.
We would love to hear from you now that England Athletics has allowed us to return to running, on a restricted basis
