Throw Back Thursday – Our first London Marathon

As a newly affiliated club we were allocated an entry into this prestigious and world renowned event. We balloted our members and were delighted to award the entry to Andy Hartfield. Andy had recently joined us through our first ever C25k course the previous year, and was going from strength to strength. Training wasn’t easy for Andy, but he showed great determination and with the help of our very own Osteopath and a new pair of trainers…. Andy got over the line.

From Park Run to Marathon

In February 2019 we had the pleasure of welcoming a guest from the USA to one of our Sunday club runs. Little did we know just how much of an impact that run would have.

Where it all began – Danny (Left) at Salisbury Parkrun Feb. 2019

Danny Sullivan was invited by Nick Sage (One of our founder members and Run Leaders) to experience the phenomenon of Parkrun, whist he was visiting the UK. @Boom-Challenge

We want our members to stay active and have fun, therefore for their one exercise a day we have set a challenge for them to prepare for at the end of May. Please feel free to join us (Virtually)

Please stick to the governments guidelines on social distancing. Choose a route you can keep your distance, say hi to people and bring a smile to their day. Remember this is their only exercise for the day, and you might be the only person they see.

Medal Monday

To beat the lockdown blues…. For a daily exercise our members are choosing to run a route local to their house in our club colours. When they get home we have asked them to take a selfie with their favourite medals…

Here is Kevin Ford starting things off…

My Two best medals. Bronze round one is for the London Marathon in 1987 (The first one) and the Silver one is for Edinburgh Marathon in 2017 (My latest one.) Both are special, for different reasons

Kev has been injured for 9 months, and after a steady return helping our C25k team prior to lockdown, he comes back with a bang with a sub PB time for his first three miler… Top Work.

Kev couldn’t find his Marathon day pics for 1987, but in searching he came across this Bournemouth Half Marathon 1987 training run and noted a scorching 78mins best ever time.

We may not be able to race but we can get out our bling!
