As a child I hated most sports. I still do, and am one of the very rare males who can’t stand football. I think my problem is that I am inherently non-competitive which really is not a great trait if you want to excel at sport. Continue reading “My Running Story – Nick”
After retiring, I joined a gym to keep my fitness levels up and after three years of treadmills and cross trainers I needed a new fitness challenge. I run faster when I’m angry!
So I never used to run for fun, no honestly I didn’t! Even the thought of it just seemed completely pointless. I used to take part in x-country at school just to make up the team , always coming in last and usually being told to get on the mini bus so all the marshals could go home!! We are a friendly and approachable running club based in Shrewton, Wiltshire, UK. We have a small but enthusiastic membership of adults of all abilities; from total beginners to marathon runners. We are soon to run our first Couch to 5k course to get the total beginners from sofa to a 5km Parkrun in 8 weeks.
We have applied for England Athletics affiliation and our ambition is to run our own event some time in the future.
Our current club runs are every Wednesday at 18:30 and Sunday at 09:00. During these runs we always run as a group. No one is left behind or pressurised to keep up. The group may stretch out but will always come together frequently and finish together.
Several members regularly do the Salisbury Parkrun and other local events.
